Become part of our local CASTL team that manages our training facility in Vancouver, BC. CASTL is a Canadian non-profit organization with a dynamic and flexible start-up culture and work environment.

What will you be doing?

  • Delivery of and development of training material including lectures and practical content in biopharmaceutical processing operations.
  • Day-to-day operation and maintenance of pilot plant facilities and laboratory equipment in CASTL's pilot-scale training facility, including ensuring occupational health and safety. 
  • Hosting tours of CASTL pilot production plant and attend business development meetings with prospective clients.
  • Any other reasonable duties as may be required from time to time by your manager.
  • Main work location is Vancouver, BC. Travel within Canada to support other CASTL training facilities is part of the mandate for this role (representing up to 25% of the time).

Who are we looking for? 

You hold a degree in a scientific field relevant to biomanufacturing (Life Science/Biopharmaceutical Processing/Engineering/Biotechnology or related field, e.g. BSc/MsS or PhD) with relevant (bio) pharmaceutical industry experience (minimum 5-10 years). You must also have:

  • We look for experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Recombinant protein (e.g. mAbs), or vaccine manufacture, ideally at commercial scale
    • Quality control, including microbiology testing and environmental monitoring
    • Bioanalytical methods used for quality control of biologics and/or their development
    • Sterile fill-finish & aseptic processing of final drug product
    • Automation for Biopharma (Electronic systems, LIMS, Pharma 4.0, etc).
    • Cell and gene therapy manufacturing
    • Process development and/or tech transfer experience in the biologics field
  • Motivated self-starter, capable of working under their own initiative as part of a busy and dynamic training team.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written communication and presentation-style communications skills are essential for this role.
  • Be personable and operate with a high degree of integrity, transparency and professional values.
  • Previous management/team lead experience is a major asset.

Required education and experience

  • Relevant education in life sciences, preferably in biotechnology.
  • Minimum desired level of education attained is a Master's degree in a relevant field (equivalent work experience can be considered).
  • Demonstrated knowledge and extensive experience in bioprocessing manufacturing operations is required.
  • Experience delivering biopharmaceutical and/or bioprocessing related training would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of, or experience with, digital training development would be considered an asset.
  • Experience with sourcing, purchasing and installation of biopharmaceutical processing equipment would be considered an asset.

Salary

We offer a competitive wage package. Your salary will be commensurate with your experience and expertise.
