Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Marketing and Comms will lead and execute an integrated strategy to maximize resources and expand the impact in the biomanufacturing industry, academia, government, and other stakeholders nationally. The Director will manage strategic marketing efforts to engage trainees, employers, and partners, showcasing the company's impact on Canada's biomanufacturing sector.
What will you be doing?
- Leading the development and execution of integrated marketing communication strategies to support business objectives and drive brand awareness.
- Overseeing all aspects of marketing communications, including branding, public relations, corporate communications, content development, and social media.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including technical training, business development, client services, program/project teams to align communication efforts with business goals.
- Developing and managing communication plans, budgets, and timelines to ensure efficient and effective execution of communication initiatives.
- Crafting compelling messaging and content for various channels and platforms to effectively reach target audiences and drive engagement.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with media, influencers, and industry stakeholders to secure coverage and endorsements.
- Monitoring and analyzing communication performance metrics and KPIs to track effectiveness and optimize communication strategies.
- Providing strategic counsel and guidance to senior leadership on communication matters, including crisis communication and reputation management.
- Leading a small support team of marketing communication professionals (external contractors and agency support).
What you need to bring?
- Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
- Proven experience in marketing communication leadership roles within the Life Sciences industry or related field.
- Strong experience with digital marketing & social media
- Proven experience managing marketing agencies and contractors to deliver on organization's objectives.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate colleagues and stakeholders.
- Capability to collaborate effectively in a small team and demonstrate resourcefulness
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages and build strong relationships.
- Demonstrated track record of developing and executing successful marketing communication strategies and campaigns.
- Deep understanding of marketing communication principles, strategies, and best practices.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and generate insights to inform strategic decision-making.
- Experience with communication tools and platforms, media relations, and crisis communication.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing market conditions.
- Action-oriented - a strong project manager who can prioritize campaigns and initiatives and manage competing deadlines.
- Bilingual - English/French
