The Biomanufacturing Trainer will develop and deliver world-class training programs that build trainees' competencies to ensure compliance and efficiency in our clients' biomanufacturing operations. Training content and topics can vary broadly and evolve over time, with CASTL’s baseline training offering focusing on topics such as cleanroom operations and behaviour, aseptic techniques, equipment operation, and GMP practices in the context of biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
As a key representative of the organization, the Biomanufacturing Trainer will engage with clients and trainees during in-person or virtual training. At all times, the Biomanufacturing Trainer will collaborate closely with other CASTL team members. CASTL Biomanufacturing Trainers are experts in the field of (bio)pharmaceutical manufacturing or other relevant adjacent industries.

Key Responsibilities
Training Delivery and Development
- Plan, prepare, support, organize and lead delivery of training modules and/or programs, ensuring sound technical development and execution of theoretical or practical modules to allow trainees to meet learning objectives
- Development and delivery of customized training programs for a variety of biomanufacturing and related skills for CASTL clients, on-site, online, or off-site.
- Measurement of training effectiveness using a variety of assessment tools.
- Contribute to the development of new training content based on experience and contribute to continuous improvements of training delivery.
- Evaluate training programs to ensure they are responsive to the needs of clients and make changes and redesign as needed.
- Engage in self-directed learning to ensure current knowledge of biomanufacturing and awareness of industry trends and advances.
- Assess the training needs of potential partners and clients and select the curriculum to fit the specific needs of the training groups.
- Support training development and delivery or transfer of best practices to other training facilities as required.
- Deliver new and expanded methods of training (e.g., eLearning, blended learning, etc.)
- Ensure the safe operation and maintenance of the laboratory and facility equipment and liaise with CASTL team members to resolve problems for successful training delivery.
- Proactively maintain CASTL’s training facilities in a ‘visit- and training-ready’ state, including training material and inventory
- Support or lead equipment installation, facility fit-out where applicable
- Implement and maintain documentation (where applicable) for the CASTL training facility operations, training delivery and other business activities (e.g. procedures, reports, practical handouts etc.).
- Host tours of the CASTL training facility and attend business development meetings with prospective clients.
- Support proposal generation for customized training
- Represent CASTL and its technical training offering at events and conferences
- Identify new leads or maintain existing clients, including their needs for customization of training offerings
- Support development of additional revenue streams for CASTL

Qualifications/Attributes
- BSc/MSc or PhD in a scientific field relevant to biomanufacturing (Life Sciences/Biopharmaceutical Processing/Engineering/Biotechnology or related field)
- 2 to 5+ years (depending on level of responsibility) of pharmaceutical industry experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Recombinant protein (e.g. mAbs), or vaccine manufacturing, ideally at a commercial scale.
- Quality control, including microbiology testing and environmental monitoring.
- Bioanalytical methods used for the quality control of biologics and/or their development
- Sterile fill finish and aseptic processing of the final product.
- Automation of biomanufacturing (electronic systems, LIMS, Pharma 4.0, etc.)
- Other adjacent areas or industries relevant to CASTL’s offerings
- Practical knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing operations is essential.
- Knowledge of adult training theory and/or training experience is an asset
- Experience delivering biomanufacturing-related training is an asset
- Experience with digital training development is an asset
- Passionate about life sciences, biotechnology and adult learning.
- Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization and external clients.
- Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally.
- Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently.
- Computer literacy, including effective working skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and e-mail, is required.

- CASTL training is offered in both official languages of Canada – full bilingual proficiency (English and French) is required
Work Conditions
- On-site work at one of the CASTL Montreal Biomanufacturing Training Facility
- Travel within Canada to support other CASTL training facilities may be required from time to time (up to 10%)
