On August 25, the Government of Canada announced an investment of up to $8.7 million in CASTL through the Sectoral Workforce Solutions Program. The funding will support our new Supporting Workforce Capacity in Canada’s Biomanufacturing Sector project, providing training and career support to as many as 1,800 Canadians.

The project will create opportunities for mid-career and displaced workers, newcomers, underemployed individuals and young people to enter the sector. It will also help current life sciences professionals strengthen their skills as industry needs evolve.

Delivered through our biomanufacturing training facilities in Prince Edward Island, Quebec and British Columbia, the initiative will combine foundational knowledge with practical training using industry-relevant equipment and processes. Together with our partners, we will help connect skilled workers with employers and strengthen Canada’s capacity to produce essential medicines, vaccines and health products here at home.

Blog: Responsible AI Adoption in Biomanufacturing Starts with Workforce Readiness

AI is quickly moving from experimentation to real-world use in biopharma manufacturing. As organizations explore its potential to improve efficiency, quality, and decision-making, one factor is becoming increasingly important: workforce readiness.

In a regulated environment, responsible AI adoption depends not only on what the technology can do, but on whether employees are prepared to use it in ways that protect product quality, patient safety, data integrity, and compliance.
