Overview

This course is designed to address the growing regulatory focus on robust contamination control strategies. Participants develop a strong understanding of why contamination control is essential and how to implement it effectively in daily operations. Core topics include contamination sources and prevention methods, cleanroom classification and workflow, gowning procedures, environmental monitoring, aseptic technique in biosafety cabinets (BSCs), and best practices for cleanroom cleaning and maintenance.

Why It’s Essential

Contamination control is a fundamental requirement in every biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility. Because operators remain one of the primary potential sources of contamination, regulatory expectations—highlighted in updates such as Annex 1—continue to rise. This course provides participants with the knowledge and practical skills needed to reduce contamination risks, strengthen operational practices, and contribute to a robust quality culture within controlled environments.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the principles of contamination control and cleanroom behaviour

  • Learn how to classify and maintain cleanroom environments according to Annex 1

  • Demonstrate proper cleanroom behaviour and discipline

  • Implement best practices for cleaning and maintaining cleanrooms

  • Apply good aseptic technique and contamination prevention in daily operations

  • Apply correct gowning techniques according to the cleanroom grade requirements

  • Understand how to apply rigorous environmental control

Who Should Attend

This course is intended for new hires, individuals seeking to enter the biopharmaceutical or pharmaceutical industry in entry-level roles, and those already working in the sector who want to broaden their understanding of contamination control in industrial production, including:

  • Production and quality control personnel
  • Cleanroom operators and technicians
  • Microbiologists and QA professionals
  • Anyone involved in aseptic processing or environmental monitoring

Participants who successfully complete a theoretical assessment will receive a certificate of completion.
