Accelerate
Program

The CASTL BioWorks Accelerate Program is a four-week hybrid training experience that provides participants with the foundational technical knowledge and hands-on skills needed to thrive in regulated biomanufacturing environments.

Whether you’re entering the life sciences workforce, upskilling for career growth, or seeking to understand GMP operations firsthand, this program offers the perfect starting point.

In just four weeks, participants complete a combination of online learning, Holland College micro-credentials, and in-person practical sessions led by CASTL instructors.

This program provides a comprehensive introduction to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), cleanroom operations, and biomanufacturing processes, all aligned with industry standards and employer expectations.

  • Weeks 1–3: Online learning via CASTL’s Online Academy and Holland College micro-credentials
  • Week 4: 3 days of in-person practical training at CASTL’s GMP-simulated facility

Program Length: 4 weeks
Format: Hybrid – online and in-person
Location: CASTL Online Academy, Holland College, and CASTL’s in-person training site
Start Date: November 17
Onsite Training Dates: December 9-11
Language: English in Charlottetown and Vancouver; English and French in Montreal 

Over the four weeks, participants will gain both theoretical knowledge and practical experience in:

Online Modules

  • Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) fundamentals
  • Cleanroom behaviour and contamination control
  • Overview of biopharmaceutical manufacturing
  • Effective communication, leadership, and teamwork in regulated environments

In-Person Practical Training

  • Cleanroom gowning and behaviour
  • Contamination control and cleaning procedures
  • Buffer and solution preparation following GDP
  • Filter integrity testing and aseptic techniques
  • Overview of upstream and downstream processing
  • Introduction to fill-finish operation

Participants will gain:

  • An understanding of GMP principles and applications in regulated environments
  • Hands-on experience working in a GMP-simulated cleanroom
  • Transferable technical and professional skills for the biomanufacturing sector
  • Recognized micro-credentials through CASTL and Holland College
  • A strong foundation for career pathways in biomanufacturing, quality control, and laboratory operations

This program is ideal for:

  • Entry-level professionals seeking to start a career in biomanufacturing
  • Technicians and operators looking to formalize their GMP knowledge
  • Students or graduates of science or technical programs wanting practical training experience
  • Industry newcomers from related fields (e.g., food, biotech, health sciences) interested in transitioning into life sciences manufacturing

Participants should:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have a high school diploma (or equivalent)
  • Have access to a computer and reliable internet connection for online modules
  • Be available full-time for the four-week duration (online and in-person training)

  3. Receive your acceptance package with next steps, learning platform access, and preparation instructions.

As part of the CASTL BioWorks program, Canadian biomanufacturing employers pay just $250 for each qualified employee* to participate.

*Candidates must be living and eligible to work in Canada with at least one year remaining on their work permit, hold a minimum of a high school education, have at least three years of work experience (full-time, part-time, or volunteer), and be under consideration for cross-training, new product streams, or career advancement.
